Oh Deer

A couple years ago, I hit a deer with my car. It went something like this:

There's also another drawing of the Highway Patrolman killing the deer, but I sadly didn't take a picture of it.

I hit an eight point buck at around 40MPH. I saw the deer about 3 seconds before impact so, thankfully, I didn't have time to swerve. I did start braking, but it was too late.

Here's what my car looked like:

I'm telling you this because, for me, this was something that happened to me one time over two years ago. For my dad, on the other hand, hitting deer seems to be his jam these days.

He's hit three deer in the past 6 months with the same car. His car has been slowly getting more jacked up with each deer event. He only has liability insurance on it, so he's been driving it like it is. Granted, it wasn't that bad; just some minor bumper damage. Well, that was until last week, when this happened:

He hit a deer going 70MPH on the highway and he still drove to work (and back) with it looking like that! Sad thing is, the car still runs great! He's looking into getting a hood and bumper and fixing it up... so he can (probably) hit some more deer!

This Is What Happened

Aaaand I'm back! It's been way too long!

I'm enjoying a lovely staycation this week where I've been watching "Sons of Anarchy" and "Lie to Me".

First up, "Sons of Anarchy". How did I avoid this show for so long?! It's so great! "Lie to Me": I love it! I'm such a huge fan of crime dramas anyway so this show is right up my alley. Can we also talk about "The Walking Dead"? I wasn't a huge fan this season, but with the midseason premiere, I'm hooked again! I feel like I've been through so much with this group. Can you tell I become way too involved with fictional characters?

Also, this happened:

I turned 27 on Monday. I'm not sure I want to talk about that number. I think I may have finally reached the age where I'm dreading my birthday. There's so much that I feel like I should have accomplished by now and one of these years, I'm going to have to face the whole "having kids" thing. Maybe I'm old enough now that people are going to stop asking? Probably not.

Also, that cake? Completely cracked and lopsided. Thanks, mom! No, really, my mom is a great cook. I don't know what happened there. She used to be the go to person for cake making/decorating. It tasted great, though, and that's all that matters.

In country music news, I just want to give a little shout out to The Dusty Armadillo for hosting Eric Church this Thursday for one of his album release concerts. Eric is going to put on shows in six cities in two days to promote his latest album, "The Outsiders". It sounds like it's going to be a fun time for everyone involved and I think it's so cool that Eric is putting on these shows. I saw him on the Jägermeister tour (with my boys Josh Thompson, Sean Patrick McGraw and Rick Monroe) a few years ago and he puts on a good show. I even saw him before the show from afar and waved to him and his wife and they waved back! I was so star struck! I also have to add that Chris Cavanaugh is opening for Eric.  I've seen him live before and he's great!  He also tweets me sometimes, which is really cool!

This is my life

Aaaand this is my Saturday afternoon:

A cold drink and some TV. Love.

I'm like this only because this is going on outside:

Can someone just come and get me when winter is over?

It's Just Me

You guys! How is it Thursday already?! We're about to embark on another weekend & I haven't even told you about last weekend! It was so awesome too! Here's some highlights:

Friday

We went to visit my uncle in the hospital. He's doing a lot better. He still has a long road to recovery, but he's really lucky. Here's the text my cousin got from her mom yesterday:

& she just posted this one of her dad at home:

----------

We went to the mall where we blocked in by another car:

We're the Subaru.

Confession time: I'm a terrible driver. I mean, seriously. The. Worst. But I have never purposely blocked another car in a parking spot. When Red Car finally got out there to move her vehicle, she was mad at us! In what world is that our fault?

Saturday

Concert time! We went to see Josh Thompson at The Dusty Armadillo in Rootstown, Ohio. I absolutely adore Josh & try to see him live as much as possible. I also adore The Dusty Armadillo & the Rootstown area in general. It's just far enough away from home to feel like a vacation, yet close enough to feel like home. Does that make sense?

The concert was so great. Sydney Hutchko opened the show. She was awesome. She sang some originals & did some awesome covers of "Hell on Heels", "Mama's Broken Heart" & "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" where she did a spot on Jessica Simpson impersonation! It was hilarious!

Josh was great as always. He sang a bunch of new songs from his forthcoming album. It was great to hear the new stuff. He also played his hits from his album "Way Out Here". He really knows how to get the crowd going. His band also participates with the audience, which is really cool. He did a great cover of "Modern Day Bonnie & Clyde".

I wish I had more photos, but I misplaced my camera cord so all I have are cell phone pictures! I don't have any phone pics of Sydney Hutchko, either, but check out her site. She's gorgeous!

We left immediately after the concert. I was absolutely exhausted because I was awake since 5am! I work mornings, so I'm awake that early even on my days off! We got back to the hotel at about midnight & fell right asleep. I slept really good, which is unusual for me anymore. We hit up the free hotel breakfast on Sunday morning & were back home by 10:30AM. It was awesome!

--------

This week has been flying by. It's the same routine: Work. Quick Dinner. TV. Sleep. Repeat! I'm off work tomorrow, so that's nice! It's also Snow City out my way, so not having to drive in it absolutely rocks. Have a wonderful weekend. :)

Weekend Recap

My weekend was a fairly lazy one.

Friday, I watched the first season of "Breaking Bad". Holy cow! Where has this show been all my life? I knew I wanted to watch it for some time so I've tried to avoid any spoilers. I didn't realize it would be so deep. I'm definitely hooked!

Saturday, I went over to my parents' for pizza and a movie. We watched "The Last Stand". It was so good.

Also on Saturday, my family received some tragic news. My uncle was in a vehicle accident in his water truck at work and is currently in the ICU. He was just moved to the ICU this afternoon when the doctors found out that he has pneumonia. He has a long road of recovery ahead. Any good thoughts/prayers would be appreciated.
