Dad’s Nifty 50

My mom wrote “50” on the cake in hopes my dad would be as mortified as she was with her big day!

Nifty 50

bday

You guys!  My mom is 50 years old!  How did this happen?!

Her birthday was last Sunday & my dad’s nifty 50 is this Friday.  I can’t believe both of my parents are 50 years old.  That means I’m on the fast track to being 30 years old.  I can’t even!  Where did the years go?

The day after my mom turned 50, she received paperwork for AARP in the mail.  I laughed about it at first and then I realized that AARP offers awesome discounts!  Maybe not awesome enough to admit you’re 50 though!

This Is What Happened

Aaaand I'm back! It's been way too long!

I'm enjoying a lovely staycation this week where I've been watching "Sons of Anarchy" and "Lie to Me".

First up, "Sons of Anarchy". How did I avoid this show for so long?! It's so great! "Lie to Me": I love it! I'm such a huge fan of crime dramas anyway so this show is right up my alley. Can we also talk about "The Walking Dead"? I wasn't a huge fan this season, but with the midseason premiere, I'm hooked again! I feel like I've been through so much with this group. Can you tell I become way too involved with fictional characters?

Also, this happened:

I turned 27 on Monday. I'm not sure I want to talk about that number. I think I may have finally reached the age where I'm dreading my birthday. There's so much that I feel like I should have accomplished by now and one of these years, I'm going to have to face the whole "having kids" thing. Maybe I'm old enough now that people are going to stop asking? Probably not.

Also, that cake? Completely cracked and lopsided. Thanks, mom! No, really, my mom is a great cook. I don't know what happened there. She used to be the go to person for cake making/decorating. It tasted great, though, and that's all that matters.

In country music news, I just want to give a little shout out to The Dusty Armadillo for hosting Eric Church this Thursday for one of his album release concerts. Eric is going to put on shows in six cities in two days to promote his latest album, "The Outsiders". It sounds like it's going to be a fun time for everyone involved and I think it's so cool that Eric is putting on these shows. I saw him on the Jägermeister tour (with my boys Josh Thompson, Sean Patrick McGraw and Rick Monroe) a few years ago and he puts on a good show. I even saw him before the show from afar and waved to him and his wife and they waved back! I was so star struck! I also have to add that Chris Cavanaugh is opening for Eric.  I've seen him live before and he's great!  He also tweets me sometimes, which is really cool!
