Best Thing/Worst Thing

Everything in my life has either been the best thing or the worst thing that's ever happened. I don't have an intuition, so every decision I ever make is just me crossing my fingers and hoping that it's going to work out. It kind of sucks. My go-to is usually playing it safe because at least I know that will work out, but lately I've been all over the place decision-wise and it's leaving me with so much anxiety that I can't even stand it. I hate vague blogging about all this, but there's only so much I can share before things become official in November. But, just so you know, I'm all #ugh over here for days and days.

I Hate Salads

Confession time:

98% of the time, I hate salads. I rarely meet a salad that I like. It's all lettuce for days for me and I just can't, but do you think that stops me from buying a salad for lunch? No way. Every time I see a salad, I think I'm going to like it and I just don't.

We could also file this under 'Not learning from my mistakes', but that file is overflowing right now.

PS: Sorry this post is so late. I wasn't even going to post at all and then I remembered how much I hate salads and how much I want the internet to know.

My Life Story In 140 Characters or Less

The other day, I posted this tweet:

If you want to know about my life, that's pretty much it.

I guess I'm just nostalgic.  I want people and places to stay the same, even though that's a terrible expectation.  As people, we're all about growth and, while I can handle it in my own life, it hurts me to see it in others.  I've reached the age now where places I used to frequent are no longer there.  It's cool and sad all at the same time.

Aaand this is what kind of post I write when I don't schedule!  I'm all over the place here.

- I spent some time at Conneaut Lake Park over the weekend.  I have so much love for that place.  Also, mini golf is only $2!

- There was a massive power outage for me Sunday night/Monday.  Right after calling the electric company and getting an estimated time of 10 PM Monday night for service to return, the electric came back on at about 2 PM.  Our outage was due to down power lines, but my grandma, who also had a power outage, had some bigger issues and ended up blowing up several electronics.

- I still haven't watched the new season of "Orange Is The New Black".  I've got like 10 different shows I'm watching right now and I don't really want to add another one to the mix.

- The Killdeer family saga is over.  I went by there one day and they were gone.  In the past, they usually stuck around with their babies for a few days, but this time, they were gone.  I didn't even get to see the babies this time!  They're the cutest.

- The barn swallow families had their babies.  I'm going to have to get some pictures of them.  They're also the cutest!

- Now that I got a new computer, I finally bought "The Sims 3" to play.  Now, I was a huuuuuge fan of "The Sims" back in the day and I didn't really want to overdo it with "The Sims 4", so I settled on "The Sims 3".  Also, it was like half the price, so that didn't hurt, either!  So I've basically spent every spare minute with these Sims.

The Curse

I joke that I'm adopted because I look absolutely nothing like my parents. You know how in some families the resemblance is uncanny? Well, not in mine. If you put me next to my parents, you wouldn't be able to tell we're related.

While we may not look alike, my dad and I do have at least one thing in common: we have the worst luck when it comes to objects.

It probably began long before this, but the first instance I can remember is when my dad got his truck. This thing was awesome! It had a snow plow on the front and it was going to be so great in the winter and make our driveway plowing a breeze...until it didn't. If I remember correctly, the plow got stuck in one direction, which was awesome if you only wanted to plow one way. Otherwise, it sucked. Also, one Christmas morning, my mom took it alone to my grandparents' house and the plow dropped right down in the middle of the road and she couldn't get it to move. I'm also fairly certain that this was the truck that my dad got stuck in the snow mound all winter and not even the neighbor's huge tractor could get it unstuck.

Then there are the tractors. Several of them. The one that could have plowed the driveway last winter? Oh yeah, not going to work because it wouldn't start all winter.

Oh, and the boats! The one he's using now is actually named "Little Dumpy" and legit sank in the lake last year.

All of these things started out with such promise and turned into complete junk really quickly.

I never realized that I shared this curse with my dad until I bought my new computer and had to system restore it a week later. Now that I'm facing facts here, I think I've had this curse all along and have been in total denial about it. So if you're looking to buy something that sounds pretty awesome, you should probably keep it away from me!

Peace Out, Clutter

Last Friday, my husband and I cleaned my home office. It had been on my to-do list for a long time. We originally remodeled the room a few years ago and then the clutter took over. It was such a mess! Everything was everywhere! We threw away a ton of stuff and also packed up a lot of stuff for our annual sale. Even after putting an actual truckload of stuff in storage for the sale, I'm still finding more things to get rid of! I used to want to hold on to everything and now I just want it gone! We're thinking about moving and the less stuff we have to move the better! It feels so nice to get rid of things

I’m Back

Aaand I’m back!

Nothing major happened to cause my absence; I’ve just been laying low for a while.

It feels good to fire back up the old blog, though!  I’ve got a couple posts planned out, so check back soon for new content!

5 on Friday

It's finally Friday!  Actually, I'm not very happy about this because I've been on vacation from work all week & it's time to return.  Here are some things that happened this week:

ONE  ||
I made a pact with my car that it can get all the service it wanted once I paid it off & that's why it was sitting in the workshop all week!  At least it didn't look like this when I took it there:

Also, unexpected car repairs are terrible things.  I've never spent so much money in one sitting in my entire life!

TWO ||
I've been on vacation staycation all week!  It has been so fun!  I've been living in a hoodie in my air conditioned house.  The temperatures were hot, hot, hot!  Well, except for today.  I live in a place where I have to run both the heater and air conditioner in the same week!

THREE ||

I posted that on Twitter about the plant I got my mom for Mother's Day & Mushnik's  Florist's  made it a Favorite.  My life=made.  I love me some Little Shop Of Horrors!

FOUR ||
We went to the zoo!  I love zoos, especially smaller ones, which this one was.  Of course, I took tons of pictures of domestic animals that I can find everywhere:

FIVE ||
My mom got a tablet.  Not really a "me" thing, but I'm at my parents' house right now & my mom is screaming at Candy Crush on her new tablet.  I don't have another thing to put here, so I'm writing about that! :)  She also has no idea where the volume buttons are on the tablet, so it's Candy Crush music on full blast!

So that's it!  Have a fantastic weekend!

Hi

Hi!

So...it's been a while since I've last written.  I guess the only excuse for my absence has been that my life has been fairly boring, which is totally a good thing.  I'd settle for a boring life any day of the week!

Here's a little recap of some of the things I've been up to since I've been away:

READING  // About a million blog posts!  Even though I haven't been writing anything for my own blog, I absolutely love reading the blogs of others!  There are so many great bloggers out there & I love to see everyone's creativity.

WATCHING  //  So many shows!  Last year was all about the movie for me.  I watched about 200 movies last year.  For some reason, I just don't seem to have the patience for movies this year, so shows have been my jam.  There are only a couple shows that I watch in "real time"; the rest I've been catching on Netflix.  I always catch Revenge, The Goldbergs & Drop Dead Diva when they're on actual TV.  Some of the new (to me) shows I've been getting into are:  Lie to Me, Haven, House of Cards & Ringer.

LISTENING // I have to say that I'm so bad about music.  I listen to the same old songs over & over! I've been jamming out to Josh Thompson's new cd, Turn It Up. I also love me some Jon Pardi.  His Write You A Song cd is awesome.  I've been wanting to listen to the new Jerrod Niemann one as well.

REAL LIFE // is boring!  I've just been going to work & coming home & hanging out on the couch!  It's finally starting to feel like spring here, so I'm probably going to be outside a lot more.  I mowed the back yard last week & have yet to mow the front!  It's been raining here nonstop for days, so my yard is currently flooded.

Well, I guess that's it!  If this hasn't cured me of my blog funk, I don't know what will!
