Decorating

I've learned something about myself during our house hunt: I love to decorate. I never really decorated the house we're living in now because I've always seen it as a temporary residence. Even though we've lived here 8 years now, it never really felt like a space that I wanted to decorate. I've always been on the search for the next best thing and I still haven't found it yet!

Anyway, back to decorating! I've realized that I can now turn any type of house into a Pinterest Nightmare. We looked at another house that was completely different from the original Pinterest Nightmare house so I went on Pinterest and had the entire house decorated before I knew it. This one had a primitive/country theme while the other one had a bright, airy theme. I can't wait to look at another house to see what I can dream up!

My Kind Of Place

Even though I have my heart set on the Pinterest Nightmare House, I've been all over Zillow like it's my job. I really love all things house related and love taking a peek at the real estate listings. Here's a recent description that caught my attention:

I'm obsessed already. If I bought this house, my husband would lose his mind, even though he rehabbed houses as a job back in the day. There's nothing like an extensive rehab to ruin a marriage, though! He'd be in the house trying to do things the right way and I would be in there looking at Pinterest and suggesting paper bag floors.*

I guess I can only dream of the day when I can get my hands on a house and turn it into a complete Pinterest nightmare.

*As someone who has worked in construction/remodeling for 10+ years, my husband is completely against paper bag flooring.

Pinterest Nightmare

As I briefly mentioned way back when, my husband and I are currently looking at houses to buy. We found one we really wanted, but couldn't make it work financially for us.

I would have just made it a Pinterest disaster anyway.

I love Pinterest, though. It gives me so many ideas for stuff I'm never going to do. Where we live now is very limited on space. The house we wanted was like 3 times the size of our current residence. I could have Pinterested (?) all day and night and still had room for more stuff. I don't know if that would have been a good thing or a bad thing. Probably a terrible thing. So much DIY everywhere!

The Haunted Double Wide

While house hunting, my husband and I have come into some weird situations. Last week, we checked out a local foreclosure with my parents, who are looking for rental properties. It happened to be a double wide trailer. When we got out of the vehicle, the neighbor guy came out on his porch and yelled over "It's haunted!".

Now, you could take this one of 3 ways:
1. It really is haunted.
2. Dude doesn't want any neighbors and will force you out and/or make you a star of some scary neighbor show on the ID Channel.
3. Dude is freaking awesome.

I think the guy is awesome, especially after explaining to him that we were also locals and not looking to ruin the precious neighborhood ecosystem. Getting new neighbors is always an anxiety filled experience and I hope it works out for him.

Also, double wides can't be haunted, can they?
